We were recently visited by Jonathan Pimentel (CCI DE LA MAYENNE), who interviewed our manager Nicolas Boulinguiez as part of the “CSR Thursdays” program. The aim of his interview? To illustrate how digital technology can enable us to adapt to more virtuous uses, through our business and our CSR approach. Read the full interview below!
Energy optimization and CSR in the digital sector
- Jonathan Pimentel, CCI: “Can you introduce yourself?”
- Nicolas Boulinguiez, MCT: “Nicolas Boulinguiez, head of MCT, a company I founded in 2011, in which we work with organizations on IT services, data hosting and local and public cloud services. We also provide telecoms services, including internet access and telephony. We currently employ around forty people in two departments: Mayenne and Morbihan.”
- Jonathan Pimentel, CCI: “What is your vision of CSR?”
- Nicolas Boulinguiez, MCT : ” For me, CSR means giving meaning back to the company and making it a vocation for all its employees, as well as being firmly rooted in the local community. But it’s also an approach that we are deeply committed to, and which we involve all our employees in. From minimizing consumption to eco-driving with the use of vehicles, to the efficient use of electric vehicles whenever possible. The launch of a plan to install photovoltaic shade systems on the building we’ve just bought in Laval. And to make users and customers aware of all digital technologies. And how, by adopting a more adapted digital hygiene, we can minimize our consumption and use more virtuous technologies in our digital operations. In particular, Hyperion-type solutions that we have developed.”
- Jonathan Pimentel, CCI: “What are the environmental constraints related to your business?”
- Nicolas Boulinguiez, MCT : “So the environmental constraints linked to our activity are an explosion in energy costs. We’ve been working for 10 years on our data center activities, minimizing the energy impact and consumption that was ours. Since 2016, we have developed a server immersion solution called Hyperion, which enables us to minimize energy consumption by around 40%, because we don’t need air conditioning. It also enables us to recover 90% of this energy consumption as waste heat. Either for domestic hot water, or for heating the buildings. Of course, we’re working with electric vehicles, but we also have something rather specific at home, namely two small occupants. They’re in charge of our lawn near the building, and their names are HYP and RION. And who are the little Ouessant sheep who keep it clean for us every day, and who we take good care of.”
- Jonathan Pimentel, CCI: “Are your social actions in line with your CSR approach?
- Nicolas Boulinguiez, MCT: “It’s also part of the company’s footprint in the region, and we work with a variety of events, both cultural and sporting. We support a number of sports clubs in the Laval area, as well as cultural events such as the Team Peace Festival and the 3 Elephants, which will be arriving soon. We also have a number of initiatives to promote employee well-being, including games rooms. We also have a sports coach who comes in to give sports lessons in the gym at our new premises, which we recently moved into. And we also sponsor much more socially-oriented projects, such as the Himalayan clean-up and Luc Boisnard’s work to clean up the Makalou.
- Jonathan Pimentel, CCI: “3 words to define your job?
- Nicolas Boulinguiez, MCT: “We are experts in digital management and security”.
